Police officers have spoken to a man who was found with a serious head injury almost nine weeks ago.
The 63-year-old, who was named locally as John Scott, was found at his home in Ambleside, Sittingbourne, by a visiting relative on January 16.
Mr Scott was rushed to King’s College Hospital, London.
Forensic officers combed the house for clues and house-to-house inquiries were carried out in a bid to establish what had happened.
Police tape sealed off the house and it remained under police guard for almost a week.
Investigating officer Det Insp Ged Boulton says he is satisfied no third party was involved in the incident.
He said: "Although a medical expert had already looked at the man’s injuries and come to the conclusion that they were not the result of an assault we kept an open mind as to what happened until we were able speak to the man ourselves.
"We have now spoken with him and although he is still confused as to what happened we are satisfied at this stage there is no third party involvement."
