No Southeastern trains will be running in Kent on Saturday as rail workers take part in strike action.

Workers from ASLEF are walking out as part of the ongoing dispute over pay and conditions.

Normal services are expected to resume on Sunday, including in the early morning.

Scott Brightwell, Southeastern operations and safety director, said: “If this strike goes ahead there’ll be significant disruption.

"We’re unable to run any Southeastern trains on Saturday, November 26.

"However, we’re expecting to run a normal service on Sunday, November 27, except for any planned engineering work on our network.

"We recognise the inconvenience this causes and offer our sincere apologies.”

Anyone who has bought train tickets for Saturday is urged to apply for a full refund.

More strikes are planned throughout December and January which could derail plans for Christmas shoppers.

A series of 48-hour walk-outs have been planned for the week before Christmas.

More than 40,000 members across Network Rail and 14 train operating companies will strike on December 13 and 14, 16 and 17 and on January 3 and 4, 6 and 7.

There will also be an overtime ban across the railways from December 18 until January 2.
