Teenage substitute Wayne Riley was the Northwich hero scoring the winner nine minutes from time as Charlton suffered a humiliating FA Cup first round defeat against the cash-strapped Cheshire club on Sunday.

Riley had been on the field for only five minutes when he beat goalkeeper Darren Randolph from close-range, as Charlton, playing at this stage for the first time in years, became the biggest casualties in the competition so far.

Charlton were under the cosh for much of the first half, and Randolph's goal suffered a charmed life, as he pulled off a fine save from Michael O' Connor who set up the eventual winner.

Northwich, 16th in Blue Square North, and in adminstration, earlier created several chances, but Randolph kept them out, and defender Christian Dailly (pictured) cleared another effort off the line.

Charlton waited until ten minutes after half-time for their first shot on target, but midfielder Jonjo Shelvey could only shoot straight at home goalkeeper Curtis Aspden.

Five minutes of stoppage time were added on at the end, before the home fans celebrated at the final whistle, leaving Charlton to reflect on an embarrassing exit.
