A novelist hailing from Kent has been shortlisted for a prestigious book prize.
Samantha Harvey spent the first 10 years of her life in Ditton near Maidstone.
Now her novel, which looks at the world through the eyes of a man living with Alzheimer's has made it onto the Orange Prize for Fiction shortlist.
The Wilderness is her first published novel - and she is one of only six women vying for the £30,000 prize and the only Briton.
