More on KentOnline
In my time behind the turntables I have heard many, many thousands of hours of all types of music from around the world.
I think it's fair to say that I am a pretty good judge of what's good and what's a little bit dodgy.
That's why I feel confident enough to say that some of our local bands and musicians are really very good. In recent weeks I have been playing tracks from solo performers and groups featuring all styles including rock, pop, soul, ballads, acoustic, reggae, indie - and I haven't had a duff one yet, with some of them of a very high standard.
At kmfm and in the Thanet Extra newspaper we are always happy to promote new bands and tell people when and where they can see them in action. I play the tracks after 10 am on my Friday show and Peter Barnett will feature picture stories in the What's On section of the newspaper.
So get in touch with us and who knows, you could be on my show and in the newspaper. All we need is a good quality demo CD, a biography and picture.
With the warm weather upon us at last, I would also like listeners to tell me their favourite summer songs and if they hold any particular memories. I will be happy to play them on air for you.
And on the subject of the summer, it is the time of year that the lad Lewis likes to get the barbecue out. Ten days in a row is my record this year - and I haven't poisoned anyone yet!
Catch up with Johnny during the week from 7am-11am and on The Vinyl Years every Sunday from 7pm. Email jlewis@kmfm.co.uk
