A nurse has been found dead at a hospital for psychiatric patients.

An investigation has been launched into the woman’s sudden death at Littlestone Lodge in Dartford.

The nurse was on duty at the time and was found by staff at around 6pm on Sunday evening.

Police and forensic teams were reportedly at the hospital immediately after the woman's body was found.

A post mortem is expected to be carried out today (Thursday).

Littlestone Lodge is on the same site as Littlebrook Hospital in Bow Arrow Lane in Stone and is the responsibility of the Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust.

A spokesman for the trust said staff were coping well and the needs of patients remained their first priority.
