Nursery open despite damage

A nursery is reassuring parents that it is still open despite a car ploughing into the doors of the building in Whitstable.

Staff at Kindergarten Kids were called out by police on Monday night after reports that a vehicle had hit the doors of the nursery in Albert Street.

Nursery owner Gwenda Croft said: “The lock was broken and the intercom system damaged which just means that we have to physically open the door instead of using the buzzer system.”

Grant Geake, 48, of Albert Street, is due before magistrates later this month charged with driving with excess alcohol.
