We’ve got two games coming up over Easter which can make us a lot more comfortable in the table.
First it’s a trip to Oldham which we are ready for and looking to jump away from them in the table. It will be a tough game as they also need the points but we know we can go there and win.
Then we face Southend who we can also distance ourselves from below us. It’s also a local game and will make for an all action encounter.
We know it’s a big weekend but we go into it with bags of belief and spirit. With the backing of you guys, which again was fantastic on Saturday, we can definitely collect two results.
There was another hard earned point for us on Saturday against a team who will be disappointed to finish outside the top six. We were looking for three points and would have got them if we’d have had a better break in the referee’s decisions.
It started when he failed to book their left-back for kicking Millsy in the chest, after he had just booked me for a late tackle, which was certainly no more harmful than what Mills suffered.
Then Dennis Oli was upended in the box only to be booked for diving. Following that we conceded a goal which looked dubiously offside to say the least.
Millsy got us back in it with a great strike (pictured above) and it looked like we were going to kick on from there and win.
Our flow was hit again, though, by the referee as he decided to send Den off for simply trying to block a clearance.
Denis is one of the most honest, hard working players I know and would never try to injure a player. I was gutted for him as he is playing well and didn’t deserve to be sent-off.
It obviously made our task harder being down to 10. We wanted to get in level at
half-time to reorganise and attack the second half but another slice of bad luck hit.
Darren’s header struck Gary Richards and dropped perfectly for their striker to hook in. Even after this setback we managed to re-group at half-time and the gaffer assured us that we could not only still get something also still win it.
We showed our intentions as we went to three up-front even with 10 men and it paid off as Barch raced through and gave us our fully deserved point.
There was still time for the referee to miss another penalty as Rene was tripped but we will take the point and try to build on it this Easter weekend.
