We are very positive about our chances this weekend as we return to home soil where we have been fantastic this season.
Needless to say we want to progress in the FA Cup and hopefully meet another big side like we did last year and test ourselves.
We believe there is no reason why we can’t get to that third round again and it all starts this weekend.
Southend are still in money trouble but I’m sure they will pull through like Accrington did this week. Nobody wants to see clubs go out of business. Hopefully after we pick up a win against them they can get themselves sorted out.
Let’s make it a real cup atmosphere and get one step closer to the big boys.
Injury-time goals are always hard to take, especially when you have battled hard and thoroughly deserved a draw like last Friday at Roots Hall.
It did show that our away form is improving and that the first win is not far away.
We had a perfectly good goal disallowed from my free-kick in the first half and I have no idea why the referee didn’t allow it.
I think he mentioned something about a push, even though nobody else in the ground saw one.
That was very frustrating as it’s something I practice and when it comes off to have it taken away is annoying to say the least.
Everyone was frustrated with the result afterwards and annoyed that we hadn’t got something from the game. We must bounce back and get revenge in the cup.
The result leaves us a bit lower in the table than we would like to be, but with the fixtures we have had it was always going to be a tough period.
We now have a run of games in which we will be looking to pick up lots of points.
