On-loan striker Andy Pugh will miss Dover's FA Cup third qualifying round tie with Welling on Saturday.

Gillingham forward Pugh (pictured) has spent the last month on loan at Crabble but he does not want to be cup-tied and will sit out the final game of his spell at the Blue Square South side.

Gillingham boss Mark Stimson confirmed: "Dover don’t want to re-engage it (the loan) so he is coming back - he's not playing on Saturday.

"He doesn’t want to play and I said 'don’t play'. Last year in the big game against Aston Villa, a few boys missed out because they had already played in the FA Cup and it was their decision. Nicky Southall was one, he wanted to play in the FA Cup for Dover.

"I said to Pugh 'Who knows what is around the corner? You don’t want to be in the stands if we pull an Aston Villa again.'"
