Excitement about the 2009 Thanet Sports Awards is mounting, with the inaugural prizegiving ceremony fast approaching.
The awards, which recognise outstanding sporting achievement and those who have gone the extra mile in their chosen disciplines, will be held on Wednesday, November 11, at Margate Winter Gardens, and the event will be compered by kmfm Johnny Lewis.
Nominations for 11 categories were sought through the Thanet Extra and kmfm, with more than 130 applications received. kmfm's Johnny Lewis will be compere for the evening.
Phil Pittock, member of the Thanet Sports Network, (left in the picture, with Johnny Lewis)said: "We're delighted with both the quantity and quality of the entries we've received. Everyone is really looking forward to rewarding those who have made a great contribution to sport in Thanet over the last year."
The KM Group is sponsoring the Thanet Sports Awards, alongside Thanet District Council, Kent County Council, Orbit South Housing, Skip 2BFit, Pfizer, Embroid Me, the Eastern and Coastal Kent PCT, Thanet Leisureforce and DJ Ellis.
