A MOTORIST was killed and five other people were injured in a crash involving a car and a bus.

The emergency services were called at around 10.35am on Tuesday to the B2026 Hartfield Road at Cowden, near Edenbridge, where a blue Fiat Punto and a Metro service bus had been in collision.

The male driver of the Punto suffered fatal injuries. The other casualties were the driver and passengers on the bus.

One woman was taken by Kent air ambulance to Maidstone Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The other injured people were taken by road ambulance to the Kent and Sussex Hospital at Tunbridge Wells.

The man who died has not yet been named by Kent police. The road was closed at the junction with Bloomers Hill and at the junction with Spode Lane while the emergency services, including Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit attended the incident. The road was re-opened shortly after 4pm.

Police would like to hear from witnesses to the incident or anyone who saw the vehicles in the area at the time of the collision.
