ONE man was killed and several other people seriously injured today after an accident on one of Kent's busiest roads.

Two vans collided at about 6am just past the Whitstable turn-off on the new Thanet Way and the impact forced one of them off the road.

Fire crews, police officers and paramedics were called and used spinal boards to free the men, thought to be railway workers, from the vehicle.

The dead man is not thought to be local but his identity has not yet been confirmed by Kent Police.
