A Kent village is mourning the loss of one of its oldest residents after a 96-year-old man was killed in a road accident.
Tom Hole was on his daily walk to pick up a paper when he was hit by a car not far from the home he shared with daughter Pam in Culverstone Green, near Meopham.
Speaking after the tragic accident, she said: "We're just in shock. I loved him so much."
Police have appealed for witnesses to the fatal collision - which happened in South Street at about 9.25am Thursday.
The driver of the car was uninjured but Mr Hole died at the scene.
The road was closed for about four hours while police collected forensic evidence and made inquiries.
Police are particularly keen to speak to a lorry driver travelling towards Gravesend at the time who may have witnessed the incident.
