Swanley interchange crash victim Mike Baker with partner Sheila Bright
by Jess Banham
Police are re-launching an appeal for witnesses today - a year after a driver was killed after children threw stones on the A20.
Michael Baker, 47, from Littlehampton, West Sussex, died after the recovery truck he was in collided with a lorry.
Police believe the lorry had stopped because a group of children were throwing stones at vehicles shortly before the two-car pile-up near the Swanley interchange on July 24 last year.
Mr Baker was in the truck following an earlier accident at junction four of the M25.
Detectives are appealing for information about the incident, in particular anyone who knows who was at the side of the road that day.
The father-of-four's partner Sheila Bright is also re-visiting the scene and urging any witnesses to come forward.
She said: "I just have to hope that somebody has a conscience. If it was my kids I know they'd be getting punished and everything but just do the kind thing and let Mike rest in peace with some justice, that's all I ask."
A 10-year-old boy was arrested over the incident but never charged.
Det Insp Ian Rogerson added: "We were not able to charge anyone in connection with the incident at the time.
"However, we have never closed the case as we have a duty to Michael's partner, his family and friends to find out how and why he died.
"I would urge anyone who has any information about the incident to call us as soon as possible."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 01622 690 690 or Kent Crimestoppers in 0800 555 111.
