SALES of the Astra convertible are soaring, according to Vauxhall.
The range offers a choice of four engines, an Edition 100 model marking Vauxhall’s centenary and a new range of Irmscher styling cues.
In the first two months of the year, 300 convertibles were registered, an 83 per cent increase over the same period last year.
This spring and summer sees the Astra Convertible becoming even more desirable thanks to the availability of a 190 hp 2.0-litre Turbo engine, alongside three other choices of 1.6 16v and 1.8 and 2.2-litre power packs.
The convertible features remote control electric soft-top as standard that opens or closes in just 30 seconds. There are four full-size seats, lots of interior space and a large boot that can easily accommodate, for example, two sets of golf clubs.
Andrew Cullis, Astra brand manager, said: “With the Edition 100 and the Irmscher styling, combined with the car’s engine choices, its good looks and its versatility, we confidently predict a great season for our open top.”
Convertible on-the-road prices range from £17,385 to £21,610.
