A retired teacher who was missing for nearly six months before his body was found probably died of hypothermia after becoming lost and disoriented.

An inquest on Wednesday heard how the body of Amarjit Lehal, 70, of Old Road, Chatham was discovered on November 4 by a dog walker in isolated land in Bull Lane, Eccles.

Mr Lehal, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, had been missing from his home since May 27.

Coroner Roger Sykes said the cause of death was consistent with hypothermia but because the pathology results were inconclusive an open verdict was recorded.
