Saturday's goalless draw at Shrewsbury ensured Gillingham finished February unbeaten. Two members of this week's fans panel went home frustrated that their side had not taken all three points, while the third was reasonably happy with the draw. Our guest Shrewsbury fan thought Gillingham just edged the match.

SAM LIVINGSTONE

(Pangbourne)

"Before the trip to Shrewsbury I would have been delighted with a point; however coming away from the ground I couldn’t help feeling aggrieved at the amount of chances we had ballooned over the crossbar and the last-minute drama as Cody McDonald was pulled down as he raced through on goal.

"The Gills played extremely well, and were resolute in midfield and defence.

"However I see this game as yet another two dropped points and with five draws in the last six games automatic promotion seems ever more difficult to achieve.

"Rotherham, although inconsistent, are now five points ahead of us, with a game in hand.

"It is absolutely imperative we clinch three points, in what will be a very tricky trip to Aldershot on Tuesday and then follow that up with another three against Bradford, who unfortunately will be under new leadership."

WARREN LIGHTFOOT

(Lydden)

"The game was frustrating, the Gills had long spells of possession without any end product. On paper, this was a good point against a team who started the day in an automatic promotion spot.

"In reality, Gillingham should have taken three points. Both keepers were hardly worked, Gillingham forced two saves from the home keeper and that was in the final minutes.

"I cannot remember Alan Julian having to make a single save as Shrewsbury were equally wasteful in front of goal.

"It may be a point taken but I see it as two points dropped and hope the Gills can improve markedly at Aldershot which is now a must win game."

"It was a solid performance and a very good draw, and I think everyone among the travelling fans was happy at the end.

"I thought Garry Richards and Kevin Maher (pictured) were outstanding, Adebayo Akinfenwa completely fluffed his one-on-one against the keeper, and Cody McDonald looked a bit flat.

"It was a pretty good game, ebbed and flowed but neither side created too many chances.

"Gillingham also had a couple of shouts for penalties as well.

"When you look at the remaining games, it was arguably the second or third hardest one that remained so it’s good to get it out of the way now."

Early worries of this being a loss were quickly put to bed as Gills enjoyed most of the first half posession.

Unfortunately, like so often this season, we were unable to convert this into any goals, and as we went in at half time you were left wondering if we ever actually practise shooting in training!

Shrewsbury came out with more purpose in the second period and both sides had chances to steal a win. For all our posession we came away disappointed with a point, which shows how expectations have changed, compared to just a few months ago.

Unfortunately as great as this run of draws has been, it is only mid-table form and we need to quickly put a run of wins together to cement a play-off finish. I still think our first half season form will come back to bite us come May. Tuesday's trip to Aldershot is a must win game before we start to slide away.

"Overall it was a fairly dull game but that’s not to take anything away from two defences largely on top, and two very hard-working sides.

"I thought the Gills shaded the match overall and Adebayo Akinfenwa had the best chance in the game by a mile.

"Gillingham are clearly a very strong unit and it will take something special to break them down if they are on song.

"As the end of the season gets closer, I’d wager that there will be many more games that take a similar pattern and ultimately it will be the sides who take their chances who are triumphant come May."
