Andy Barcham’s time at Gillingham has officially come to an end after he agreed a two-year deal with Scunthorpe United.
The winger (pictured) was offered a new deal with the Gills at the end of the season but rejected that after receiving interest from a number of clubs in League 1.
Scunthorpe won the race to sign the exciting winger who began his career in the Tottenham youth team.
He joined the Gills in September 2008 after being snapped up on a free transfer by then manager Mark Stimson. He went on to make 115 appearances for the Gills and picked up the 2009/10 player-of-the-season award.
Last year he was blighted by injuries and in his final season he was limited to 26 appearances, with six goals coming during the last campaign.
Boss Andy Hessenthaler was keen to hang onto the 24-year-old but a failure to win promotion last season left the Gills in an unfavourable position.
The Gills are yet to make any new signings but that situation is expected to change within the next few days, as several players are at an advanced stage of negotiations, and club chairman Paul Scally is believed to be back in the country on Friday.
