Lady Boswell's C.E. (Aided) Primary School in Sevenoaks, St James' Church of England Junior School in Tunbridge Wells and The Hayesbrook School in Tonbridge are all on the list for the second time, while Dartford Grammar School has received its fourth outstanding mark.

After receiving the lowest possible score of Special Measures in 2002, Wickhambreaux Church of England Primary School in Canterbury is among those who have reversed their position.

Nationally 2,944 schools, childcare providers, colleges, adult skills providers and children’s homes received the outstanding grade for the year 2007/08.

Advisor to the Chief Inspector Tim Key said: “It looks to me to have been a particularly successful year for Kent. To achieve this accolade is no mean feet.”

Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education, Children’s Services and Skills, Christine Gilbert, said: “It’s encouraging to see so much outstanding provision across all areas of education and care and I pay tribute to all who contributed to this success.

“The number of outstanding providers has risen by 989 nationally compared to last year.”

Outstanding providers are given a distinctive ‘outstanding’ logo which they can use on documents and websites.
