An overseas player is not "off the agenda" as Kent look to rebuild their squad for next season.
While the club are scouring the domestic market for replacements for Joe Denly and Martin van Jaarsveld, signing an overseas player as well has not been ruled out by Kent chief executive, Jamie Clifford.
In the absence of a head coach, Mr Clifford (pictured) has been in negotiations with agents of potential signings although he stressed the cricket decisions will be made by skipper Rob Key and chairman of cricket, Graham Johnson.
Overseas players will be looked at, although any potential signings are likely to be made during the course of next season, as the club did with Wahab Riaz and Charl Langeveldt this year.
Mr Clifford said: "It’s not off the agenda. There isn’t anyone currently we are talking to overseas but we are speaking to agents who represent lots of players from overseas.
"Our networks are good and if a player becomes available then we would hear about it quite soon.
"There are players that just want to come and collect a pay cheque but we have always been big on ‘you have to bring something to the club’ and we have a pretty good track record of bringing good guys in."
The loss of van Jaarsveld, Denly and James Goodman, as well as the futures of Robbie Joseph and Simon Cook so far publicly unclear, leaves an already skeleton-thin squad in need of some major rebuilding.
Kent’s financial situation will dictate how many players will join Nottinghamshire seamer Charlie Shreck in signing for next season but Mr Clifford believes the county will be looking to build for the future, rather than just short-term.
He added: "With those departures comes opportunity and we have an opportunity to shape how we go into 2012 and have one eye on further ahead as well.
"We are working hard on player recruitment. I have met with several players and I am talking to agents daily.
"There are some exciting options out there."
