THE two men acquitted of being involved in the £53 million Securitas robbery have spoken of their relief at the verdicts.
Car dealer John Fowler told the Kent Messenger Group he was just looking forward to returning home.
Mr Fowler was speaking exclusively to KM reporter Chris Hunter in the canteen of the Old Bailey just minutes after being found not guilty of conspiracy to rob, conspiracy to kidnap and conspiracy to possess firearms in connection with the £53 million Securitas raid.
Mr Fowler, 62, of Chart Hill Road, Staplehurst, stressed: "My plans are I'm just going to go home into the bosom of my family and give them all a big cuddle and then sit down and try to take it all in."
Speaking about the moment he was cleared of all three charges, he said: "It was a little nerve-wracking to say the least."
Keith Borer, cleared of handling some of the stolen Securitas money, said he was elated and shaking with relief when he heard the verdict.
Mr Borer, 54, of Hampstead Lane, Yalding, near Maidstone, was found not guilty of handling stolen goods by the jury.
During the trial it was claimed that he received £6,100 of the stolen cash but he denied the allegations.
Speaking after the verdict, Mr Borer said: "I'm really glad it's all over I can get on with my life. It has been a two-year nightmare."
He said he planned to go home to his girlfriend after leaving the Old Bailey.
