Pair injured in unprovoked street attack

A TEENAGER and a motorist who stopped to help him were assaulted in what police believe was an unprovoked attack in a busy high street.

The 17-year-old victim was crossing the High Street by Sainsbury's supermarket in New Romney when he was attacked by at least one boy who appears to have been part of a group that had been following him.

A passing driver tried to help the injured teenager and was himself assaulted by some of the same group and was also hurt.

PC Mark Bage said: "‘This is a busy road. If you know anything about this seemingly unprovoked attack we would like to hear from you."

Anyone with information about the attack, which took place between 5pm and 5.30pm on Friday, May 5, is asked to contact Ashford police station on 01233 896285.
