It has been more than 2,000 years since Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey at the start of a week that ended Christians say in his death and resurrection.

Fast forward to 2009 and it was the turn of donkey chums Pandora and Dave to bring the people of Medway the Easter message.

Pandora, who normally resides at Faversham based Canterbury Horse Rescue, played an important in the Palm Sunday service at Gillingham United Reformed Church in Balmoral Road leading the palm waving congregation as they sang the hymn ‘Hosanna, hosanna.’

More than 200 people meanwhile took part in a similar traditional march along the High Street in Rainham starring a donkey called Dave.

The procession left St Margaret’s School C of E Junior School endin with a family service at St Margaret’s Church.
