The motorcyclist who died after an accident in Bramling has been named as Charlie Manicom.

Mr Manicom, 57, of The Street, Goodnestone, suffered serious injuries when his Triumph Legend collided with a van in Wingham Well Lane near The Haywain pub.

He was chairman of Goodnestone Parish Council, chairman of the village fete committee and a member of Goodnestone Choir.

He was married to Maggie and had a daughter, Lotty.

Jo Passmore, Goodnestone village correspondent for the Kentish Gazette, said in her column in this week's paper: "He was a regular in The FitzWalter Arms, a keen supporter and customer of Goodnestone Post Office and a particularly fine friend to young and old alike.

"Above all, Charlie was a husband and father and our condolences go to Maggie and Lotty at this sad time."

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which happened at 2.24pm on Monday, October 27, to contact them on 01622 798538.
