We are doing too much to protect criminals and not enough to punish them for their crimes.
That is the general reaction of KentOnline users to the news convicted criminals will not have to wear high visibility jackets after abuse and threats from passers-by.
The vests have been temporarily withdrawn by Kent's Probation Service from two sites in Medway.

Joanna Humphrey from Maidstone said: "This is pathetic. They deserve everything they get. Why are we protecting criminals once again? What is wrong with this country?"
Eddie Day from Gillingham said: "I struggle to find any sympathy for these offenders. Did they have any sympathy for their victims?
"Wearing these jackets could have acted as a deterrent for would-be criminals...it looks like yet again the criminal is more protected than their victims."
A comment from Folkestone by D Potter said: "Crime should not be acceptable and these people must be made aware of how repulsive their criminal activities are to decent members of our society."
However, some people did agree with the action.
"Good decision," said Brian Allchin from Rainham. "Public humiliation should not be part of any punishment imposed by a civilised society."
And Ashford's Karen Welsby added: "It's not acceptable for people to abuse those who are undertaking community service as they are paying back for their wrongdoings."
