Gillingham head into their crucial end-of-season clash against Chesterfield boosted by the backing of chairman Paul Scally.
The Gills need a result at Chesterfield and must rely on other teams slipping up to claim a place in the League 2 play-offs.
Whatever the outcome, Mr Scally (pictured) has already privately given his approval after the team responded to a woeful first few months of the season, which at one stage left the Gills on the verge of the relegation zone.
Boss Andy Hessenthaler was pleased to receive positive vibes ahead of the weekend.
Hessenthaler said: "The chairman has been positive and said we have had a good go in the second half of the season. Whatever happens we have to carry that momentum on to the start of the new season.
"He (Mr Scally) has been pleased with the second half of the season and he is desperate for us to go and do it at the weekend, as we all are. Hopefully we can.
"If we can get into the play-offs then who knows what could happen?"
