A policewoman who claimed she had been beaten unconscious during a routine vehicle check has been charged with wasting police time.

It was claimed 27-year-old PC Frances Croucher, of Maidstone, was assaulted by the occupants of a van during a check in Swanley, in January.

She has been suspended from duty with Kent Police and bailed to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court on June 28.
