Pedestrian 'critical' after being struck by car

A MAN remains critically ill in hospital today after he was involved in a collision with a car.

The elderly victim, believed to be in his 80s, suffered serious head injuries in the collision in Kelsey Park Road at the junction with Manor Road, Beckenham, at 11.10am on Saturday.

The man, from the Bromley area, was taken to the Royal London Hospital. He was struck by a blue Peugeot 307.

The male driver, who is in his 20s, was uninjured and stopped at the scene.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "The area was busy at the time with Christmas shoppers and officers are asking anyone with information to call the collision investigation unit at Catford traffic garage on 020 8285 1574."
