A TEENAGER suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a car as he walked to work.
The 18-year-old, who has not been named, was involved in the accident near the Cricketers pub in Sturdee Avenue, Gillingham, at the junction of Fourth Avenue, just after 7.30am on Friday.
He suffered head and serious leg injuries and was taken to hospital. It is not thought his injuries are life-threatening.
A Medway Police spokesman said: "The injured pedestrian, who is from Gillingham and was walking to his place of work, was taken to hospital after sustaining serious leg injuries.
"The crash investigation team carried out their enquiries and examinations of the scene to find out what had happened."
The area was cordoned off for about two hours.
A spokesman for Kent Ambulance NHS Trust said: "I can confirm an 18-year-old pedestrian was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham, after suffering head and serious leg injuries in the accident."
