Pedestrian hit by car 'stable'

A YOUNG man is in hospital after being struck by a car in a Kent town.

The 26-year-old suffered a broken leg and cuts in the incident in Canterbury Road, Whitstable, at around 10.20pm on Wednesday.

He was taken to the QEQM Hospital at Margate, where police say he is in a stable condition.

The driver of the car - a Renault Clio - was not injured.

Canterbury Road was closed between the Saddleton Road and Joy Lane junctions while emergency servies dealt with the accident. It reopened at 11.10pm.
