Pedestrian killed in road accident

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car in Gillingham on Sunday.

The accident happened at around 8pm and police have confirmed that a male pedestrian was in collision with a green Vauxhall Zafira in Gillingham Road.

The collision happened outside the Fleur De Lis public house.

The 39-year old man was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital nearby with leg, back and head injuries, which he later died of.

Officers are keen to hear from any witnesses, in particular, any customers of the public house.

Next of kin have been informed but formal identification has not yet taken place.
