TWO people were taken to hospital after they were knocked down by a hit-and-run driver.

The incident happened at around 2.50am on Sunday in Cuxton Road in Strood, between Hawthorn Road and Poplar Road.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “The man and woman’s injuries are not life-threatening but they are badly hurt and are being treated in Medway Maritime Hospital at Gillingham.”

Police closed the road until 10am on Sunday to carry out forensic tests.
