It's one thing to be suspended from the BBC after 30,000 complaints about your show – but surely being burnt at the stake is a step too far?
Not for Edenbridge Bonfire Society.
Members will burn an effigy of Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand at their bonfire night celebrations on Saturday.
The society has chosen the likes of Cherie Blair, Gordon Brown and Edwina Currie to be their celebrity guy in the past, but have never chosen one quite so topical or controversial.
The society’s event co-ordinator Charles Laver said there was no malice in the society’s decision to choose the pair.
“The main reason we do this is for a joke and a laugh and to get some publicity for the area.
“We just look for someone in the limelight at the time we make the decision.
“If we have a good effigy people will want to come along and help us keep the event going in future by paying to see the show.
"Everyone has said it's a good choice. Maybe some people think we are being a bit naughty with this year’s choice, but we are just doing it to get some media attention for the area.”
The guy took around four days to build. It will be burnt following the town’s Bonfire procession starting at 6:30pm.
