A 90-year-old man sustained fatal injuries when he was struck by a white Fiat van on the A229 Hartley Road, near Hawkhurst.

It is believed he was crossing the road at the time of the tragedy. Another pedestrian suffered bruising to his hand in the accident which happened at about 5pm on Tuesday.

The road was shut while crash investigators examined the scene. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Kent Police.
