A pensioner has died two days after a crash in Margate.
The 83-year-old Canterbury man was driving a brown BMW X1 car along College Road, Margate at around 3.50pm on Sunday when his car struck a brick pillar.
He died two days later in hospital at the QEQM hospital in Margate.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Scott Lynch, of the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said the crash happened at the point where College Road splits from the B2052, outside Salmestone Primary School.
Investigators are looking into whether the driver, who was with a passenger, was temporarily blinded by the sun as he negotiated the split in the road.
Detective Sergeant Lynch said: "I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the collision take place, or who had driven along the road themselves at around that time on Sunday afternoon and may have noticed what conditions were like.
"We would also like to hear from the owner of a white van which was parked outside the school on Sunday afternoon."
Witnesses to the collision or anyone with information should call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit Appeal Line on 01622 798538.
