Pensioner hit by tree

A pensioner is in hospital after a tree fell on him.

The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon in Yalding, near Maidstone, when the tree hit the 70-year-old’s head and landed on his pelvis and leg.

Crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the accident and called the Kent Air Ambulance, which landed in a nearby field.

The pensioner was taken by helicopter to King's College Hospital, London, with suspected fractures.

No further details have been released at present.
