An elderly lady was taken to hospital with a suspected spinal injury after the mobility scooter she was travelling on collided with a transit van.

The accident happened outside the Four Elms petrol station on Four Elms Hill, Hoo, at about 11.30am Friday.

Strood firefighters were called to the scene where they moved the van and made the scene safe so paramedics could see to the woman.

She was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment.
