A 70-year-old man was savagely attacked by two dogs, thought to be Rottweillers, as he took a peaceful stroll with his dog.
The victim was so badly hurt that the bones on his right hand were showing after the attack by two large, mostly black dogs.
He suffered major wounds on his hands and arms and his collie-cross dog suffered neck wounds. None of the injuries are fatal.
The man had been walking with his dog along North Dane Way, near Lordswood Leisure Centre, near Chatham, when the attack happened.
He and his dog were mauled and dragged along the pavement by the two animals. Police are appealing for the owner of the two dogs, or anyone who may know who the owner is, to contact them.
A spokesman said: “The victim has received some serious wounds. If the dogs had attacked a small child the consequences could have been fatal.
“These dogs are obviously a danger and we need the owner to contact us as a matter of urgency so that we can ensure the safety of anyone who may come into close contact with the dogs.
“We would also appeal for anyone else who was in the area at the time and who may know who the owner of the dogs is to contact us.”
The incident happened on Monday at about 9am. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 01634 884 252 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
