Pensioners tricked by bogus police officers

ELDERLY people are being urged to be vigilant after people posing as police officers tricked their way into four homes at the weekend.

Three incidents were reported in the Strood area between 4pm and 4.3pm on Saturday. A fourth incident on Saturday took place in the north Kent area.

On three occasions two men called at homes, while one of the incidents involved a lone man. In one of the incidents a handbag was stolen.

The men involved were able to produce identification but police say it is not yet clear whether this was fake or stolen.

Police are urging people who are suspicious of a caller at their home to contact them. If identification is produced the advice is to make a note of the name on the card before calling police.

Anyone with any information about Saturday's incidents is asked to contact police on 01634 827055.
