A man believed to be in his 40s has been killed by a train close to a level crossing in Canterbury.
The incident, near the Broad Oak Road crossing, happened at around 7.15am this morning, and involved the 6.44am High Speed service to St Pancras International.
Bus services were replacing Southeastern services between Canterbury West and Ramsgate.
The road from the junction with Broad Oak Road and Vauxhall Road and parts of Shalloak Road were also closed to motorists.
A Southeastern High Speed train heading towards Canterbury had stopped at the level crossing and commuters were told to expect delays, although Network Rail reopened the line at 9.30am.
David Hodgson from British Transport Police said: "The incident which is not being treated as suspicious was attended by officers from BTP and Kent Police.
"A file will be prepared for the Coroner."
