A violent pervert who abducted a woman at knifepoint and raped her while she was handcuffed has been locked up indefinitely.
Roy Bains was told he would not be considered for release until he had served five years three months.
But the term is reduced to three years because of two-and-a-quarter years spent on remand.
A judge described the victim's ordeal as "appalling and gross" and the 60-year-old builder and carpenter as obsessive.
"She will live with the horror of this for the rest of her life", he said. "Not a day will go by when she does not have some reminder of it."
Judge Jeremy Carey said if he had passed a determinate sentence it would have been one of 10-and-a-half years.
Bains, of Windsor Road, Gravesend, admitted five charges of rape, kidnap, false imprisonment, assault causing actual bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon.
He denied two charges of soliciting to murder and not guilty verdicts were entered.
Maidstone Crown Court heard Bains bundled the woman into her car at knifepoint. She pleaded with him to let her go but he forced her to drive to his home.
Once inside, he became angry and struck her around the face. She fell to the floor and blacked out.
He kicked her in the stomach and then took her to the bathroom and handcuffed her to a handrail. He cuffed her other hand to a towel rail and stripped her naked.
He took her into the bedroom and raped her.
"He said he had to kill both of them because it had gone too far", said Miss Laws.
"He said because he had kidnapped and raped her he had to kill her."
Bains raped her again and ordered her to perform a sex act on him. He started to cry. The woman managed to slowly calm him down.
He eventually allowed her to dress and let her go. He appeared to be contrite, added Miss Laws.
Bains was arrested early the next day.
