A FAMILY'S eight-month-old cat is recovering after being shot several times with an air rifle.

The pet, named Star, required more than £500 of vet’s treatment to her wounds.

Part of the treatment involved the removal of one pellet which went through her cheek, down her throat and ended up lodged near her spine.

Star’s owner Martyn Holt, from Pitfield in Hartley, near Gravesend, said: “Star really belongs to my daughter, Kelly. She was devastated by what happened."

A police spokesman said: “The incident has been reported to us and we are investigating it. If anyone has any information, they should call north Kent police on 01474 565167 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 – calls to this number are free and you may be eligible for a reward.”
