A special edition 208 has been announced by Peugeot, equipped with a tempting array of gadgets.
The 208 Intuitive is the first Peugeot to be fitted with Park Assist, which claims to be able to parallel park the car automatically, with only suitably gentle throttle inputs from the driver.
It also gets sat-nav and a panoramic Cielo roof with ambient lighting among its special equipment. Elsewhere there are 16-inch alloy wheels, cornering fog lights, dual-zone climate control and an LED surround for the main instrument cluster.
One petrol and two diesel engines are offered with the Intuitive, which can be ordered in three- or five-door styles. An excellent three-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol with 81bhp matches up against 69bhp 1.4 and 91bhp 1.6 diesels, the latter of which is the e-HDi unit seen across many Peugeot and Citroen models.
Both diesels achieve 98g/km of CO2 making them currently road tax-free, with fuel economy listed as 74.3mpg on the European combined cycle. The petrol isn't far behind, with figures of 104g/km and 62.8mpg, and also costs a very useful £1,300 less than the cheapest diesel
On-the-road prices are confirmed at £14,245 for the petrol three-door, with the 1.4 and 1.6 diesels asking £15,545 and £16,196 respectively. Five-door versions of each add £400.
The new special edition is also available with Peugeot's `Just Add Fuel' finance agreement that covers insurance, servicing, roadside assistance cover, road tax if required and a warranty, all in one uniform monthly payment.
