A YOUNG man walking through Dane Park at Margate was robbed of his mobile telephone while he was chatting on it. The man, who is 26 and lives in Margate, was grabbed from behind near a children’s play area and the Nokkia phone, which has a distinctive green EastEnders cover, was snatched from him.

He gave chase through the park, into Cliftonville Avenue, and into the Northdown Road shopping area but then he lost sight of his assailant. The robber is in his late teens with collar-length, mousy coloured hair in a curtain style. He wore a white baseball cap, a sweatshirt, jeans and trainers.

Police are studying CCTV footage to see if they can identify the man. The attack happened at about 12.30pm on Thursday.
