CLAIMS by a Polish man in Italy that he knows the identity of the so-called 'Piano Man' are being investigated.

The 33-year-old Pole approached police in Rome after seeing photographs of the unidentified man and named him as Steven Villa Masson, a French musician.

The Polish man claims to have worked with 'Piano Man' in Nice.

But social worker Michael Camp has admitted that more than 300 other names have also been put forward from many different locations in the world.

Kent officers found the man, who is believed to be in his 20s or 30s, on Sheerness beach in the early hours of Thursday, April 7.

When found he was wearing a soaking wet black suit and tie. He was taken to Gilllingham's Medway Maritime Hospital and is now being cared for by NHS and Social Services staff.

He has not uttered a word since being found, but impressed hospital staff by giving a virtuoso piano performance.

They were astonished when his musical talent come to light after they gave him a pen and paper in the hope he would write his name.

Instead, he drew a detailed picture of a grand piano and when staff took him to the chapel piano he performed a classic recital for several hours.

He is approximately 6ft tall with what looks like either dyed blond hair or unusually greying hair and light brown eyes.
