MORE than 4,000 Mitsubishi L200s were sold last year - not surprising as it was voted Pick-Up of the Year.
The 2002 line-up now consists of the 2WD and 4WD Single Cab Pick-Up, L200 Double Cab GL 2.5 TD, L200 Double Cab 4-Life 2.5 TD, and the third generation Animal Cab which will be introduced early in 2002. Price reductions range from £585 to £1,551.
The 2WD Single Cab is £9,995, saving £585. The 4WD Single Cab is £12,395, saving £1,551. The 4WD Double Cab GL is £14,495, saving £1,281. The 4WD Double Cab 4-Life is £15,995, saving £1,053.
All vehicles within the range meet Euro III regulations. As well as producing up to 16 per cent more power and up to 24 per cent more torque, fuel economy is improved by up to five per cent, resulting in lower CO2 emissions.
All 4WD models come with Mitsubishi's Easy Select 4WD system which makes the L200 the ideal work or leisure vehicle.
Exterior changes include a new grille and front bumper design across the range. MitsubishiÕs 2WD and 4WD Single Cab Pick-Ups also now have Mitsubishi's turbo-charged 2.5 litre diesel engines.
Key specification items are carried over to the line-up, with MitsubishiÕs 4-Life having additional specification which includes new style alloy wheels, new seat design, chrome plated interior door handles, retractable assist grips and new rear lights.
Paul Williams, sales and marketing director of Mitsubishi Motors, said: "We have introduced these new prices to go head to head with grey and parallel importers. Our philosophy is to provide the customer with the right product at the right price with all the back-up of our dealership network for servicing and repairs - giving the customer what they want and what they need."
He added: "The whole buying and owning experience we can offer are services no grey importer can match."
Sales of Mitsubishi's L200 increased 49 per cent to more than 4,000 units in 2001 and the range is current market leader with a 49.5 per cent share of the retail market.
