Plate throwing inmate injures staff member

A TRAINING assistant at a child prison was injured when an inmate threw a plate at him.

The incident happened at Medway Secure Training Centre in Sir Evelyn Road, Rochester. The training assistant cut his head in the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

John Bates, a spokesman for the centre, said the matter had been referred to the police.

He added: "Serious incidents such as this are rare within Medway Secure Training Centre, which manages some of the most difficult young people in the criminal justice system."
