A PUPPY has been stolen from a car by a thief who smashed the window and ripped open his cage.
Max, a collie and Jack Russell cross breed, was in the car parked outside Dymchurch village hall. Another dog was left in the car smothered in glass.
Five-month-old Max has black fur with a white chest and chin, white under his nose and three white paws. He was rescued after being found wandering the streets on Christmas day and taken into kennels.
Owner Mark Couzens, of Dymchurch, said: "We took the puppy in after he was abandoned and although we had only had him about four weeks he had become part of our family. He hasn't even had all his injections yet.
"Whoever it was didn't do it to rescue him from a car as they left our other dog shaking and covered in broken glass."
Mr Couzens broke the sad news to his 14-year-old daughter who was heartbroken. He said: "We are all devastated it's like losing a member of our family and not being able to grieve for them because you don't know what's happened to them.
"Every time we go out for a walk we look at other dogs wondering if they are Max. We need to know what has happened to him."
The theft happened on Friday, January 28, between 11am and 1pm. Max was taken from a Nissan Prairie.
