KENT Police has issued advice to people in county ahead of next weekend's Tour de France.
The largest event the county has seen for many years is expected to attract around 1.5million visitors to Kent and everyone planning to watch the race is being urged to keep their belongings safe.
Supt Mark Janaway said: "We are mobilising around 1,700 members of staff for the event, including police officers, police community support officers, and support staff.
"We want everyone to enjoy this, the world's biggest annual sporting event, and all that Kent has to offer during the celebrations throughout the weekend."
With that in mind, this list of things to remember has been issued:
* Close windows and lock up your home before going out;
* Take care of personal belongings when out and about, particularly items such as mobile phones and media players;
* Don't leave valuables in your car;
* Don't drink and drive;
* Listen to local radio for news on road closures and traffic reports;
* Remember to take refreshments for any journey in case you are delayed in traffic in hot weather.
The number to call to report an incident is 01622 690690. In an emergency, dial 999.
